"We're working to improve health care in our community through strong general practice"

November 2015

Thank you very much for the great roll up to the AGM on the 28th of October. Congratulations to our new directors Dr Jeanne Carpenter and Dr Murray Bingham and thank you to our outgoing director Dr Deborah Sambo.

After the official part of the AGM we discussed some of the changes that are happening in Primary Health care including the reviews and newly established PHNs. Although there are threats to General Practice there are also opportunities. As I have discussed before GPs need to be well informed and actively engaged so change can be managed to benefit everyone.

David Singe CEO of Australian General Practice Network attended the AGM and gave some examples that AGPN is investigating to assist General Practice and ensure GPs are the first to go to in Primary Health Care.

All agreed that professional collegiality is very important and can only be provided on a local level by the GP networks.

Already we are lining up some interesting educational events for next year including an opportunity for Cat 1 points and QI points in a Musculoskeletal Workshop. More will be revealed in our first newsletter next year.

It is that time of year again! Thank you to our GPpartners members for supporting us during the year, attending our education events and sending emails. We try and make our education events relevant so you are hearing about new and useful information for GPs. It is also a great way to meet specialists and other GPs and to be able to have a chat about local and GP type issues.

GPpartners Board wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing more of our members next year.
